About this Event
Out to Lunch is a new monthly series created by the Queer Employee Association that aims to share stories, data, and research from staff and faculty on LGBTQ+ themes. Please join us each month in person or via Zoom to learn from SLCC staff and faculty about topics related to or affecting the LGBTQ+ community.
This Month: Trans Women in Male Prisons, LGBTQ+ People Behind Bars w/David Robles
LGBTQ+ people are one of the most overrepresented populations in the criminal (in)justice system. In both adult and youth facilities, imprisoned LGBTQ+ people face physical, sexual, and verbal harassment and abuse, as well as a lack of gender-affirming housing, clothing, personal hygiene products, medical care, and mental health treatment.
