SLCC enjoyed a deep association with the late Judge Michael Wei Kwan, an adjunct instructor in SLCC’s Criminal Justice program for more than 20 years, and who also presided over the Taylorsville Municipal Court from 1998 until his death in 2020. 

The Judge Michael Wei Kwan Lectures seeks to honor the legacy of Judge Kwan by providing an annual plenary event featuring local and national speakers to address SLCC and the communities we serve on current and relevant topics in equity, law, judicial reform and community engagement. 

This year's event is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, in TB 104 at the Redwood Campus. Dr. Kathryn Bond Stockton will be the keynote speaker presenting, "I Was a Queer Child, and So Were You."
