When we talk about human memory, we remember the pixels that outline our experiences. When we talk about computer memory, we mean storage capacity. This exhibition combines the two in an educational format of using QR codes (an organized collection of pixels) to teach about computer sizes. QR codes are cool, but what makes them even cooler is when they’re made from computer keys.

Computer storage capacity has grown exponentially over the past few decades. Sure, in the 2000s a megabyte was a big deal, but now a gigabyte is no big deal and terabytes are becoming more the norm. Do people really realize that a terabyte is 1,099,511,627,776 bytes?

Each QR code made into an artwork teaches about one xxx-byte size; there are seven on display. The information that comes up helps you compare them to more common knowledge/relatable things.

Also included are portraits of some late technology influencers (search the artworks for messages using the characters on the keys), as well as an off-wall pile of keys that represent about 0.2 megabytes.
