SLCC Alumna Megan Wilson is a mixed media artist based in Ogden, UT, exploring themes of life cycles and energy transfer through observation of the natural world. Her work combines close observational and scientific drawings of natural phenomena with hand painted textural surfaces and materials to create mixed media collages that reflect the complex, layered, and cyclical processes of energy disintegration and transformation. She received her BFA from Weber State University in 2012 and has exhibited at the Utah Division of Arts & Museums Statewide Annual Mixed Media and Works on Paper Exhibition, the national PaperWest Works on Paper Exhibition at the University of Utah, the George S. & Dolores Dore Eccles Gallery at Salt Lake Community College, and she exhibits regularly at the Eccles Art Center in Ogden, UT. Her current body of work integrates themes of decay and renewal to explore and process the transfer of energy and generational experiences that are passed on through the passage of time.


“I am consistently in awe of the world around me. I love to study and closely observe the natural world, from microbes, insects, and plants, to geological formations and astronomical phenomena. I am specifically interested in the balance of destruction and production in both biotic life cycles, like detritivores who recycle nutrients and make them available again for the next generation of living things, and abiotic processes that cycle materials in the environment through destructive processes like erosion and supernovae."
