At 10:15 am on April 19 2018, hundreds of thousands of Utahns will "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" in The Great Utah ShakeOut, the state's largest earthquake drill ever! All SLCC students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate. A emergency notification will be sent asking you to Drop, Cover, and Hold On.
Major earthquakes may happen anywhere you live, work, or travel. The ShakeOut is our change to pratice how to protect ouselfs, and for everyone to become prepared. The goal is to prevent a major earthquake from becoming a catastrophe for you, our school, and our community.
According to the Utah Geological Survey between 2014 and 2063 there is a 57% chance of a 6.0 or greater Earthquake and a 93% chance of a 5.0 or greater in the Wasatch Front Region.
