Salt Lake Community College

First-Generation College Celebration

November 8, 2018 is the 53 anniversary of the Higher Education Act. Institutions around the country participate in celebrating the presence and experiences of first-generation college students, faculty, and staff on campus.

SLCC will be joining in this exciting celebration to acknowledge our students, staff, and faculty who identify as the first in their family to go to college.

On November 8th, SLCC will acknowledge first generation students, staff, and faculty by hosting a celebration on the Taylorsville Redwood Campus in the student event center. From 11 am until 1 pm we will be serving pizza and cake, allowing students to get involved in the #celebratefirstgen social media campaign by providing a selfie station to take their photos. There will also be a first generation panel during that time so we can hear from members of our SLCC community that identify as first generation.

Thursday, November 8 at 11:00am to 1:00pm

Hi Jessica! I'm with the Salt Lake Community College Library - Miller Campus. I just checked with Student services and was told that there isn't a need for RSVPing. It's a walk-in event and we are excited to see you there! Thank you!

Do we need to RSVP for this event or can we just show up? I just saw your post on Instagram and as a first-generation college student I'd like to attend and support our first-generation SLCC students.
