The purpose of this presentation is to increase awareness of mental health problems among today’s college students and to provide strategies that assist faculty and staff in intervening effectively to get students the help they need. A broad range of topics are covered including college student
mental health as it relates to issues of inclusivity, stigma, academic impact, and the causes and indicators of distress. Also covered are practical strategies for making contact with students in distress, dealing with students at risk for suicide and referring students with mental health issues to appropriate campus resources.
